Welcome to Desert Sands Stud's SECOND Arabian horse show! After the success of the first show, I decided to make this a yearly event and, as promised, I now open up this event to ANYONE with purebred or partbred Arabian horses.
This show was designed to bring owners, breeders, and enthusiasts together to show off the magnificent and beautiful Arabian horse. The show will be separated into sections consisting of Halter/In Hand, Liberty, in hand Costume/Native, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, free jumping, and showjumping. As stated above, purebreds and partbreds are welcome (NOTE: partbreds MUST have at LEAST 25% Arabian blood!!)
Note: For the Purebred Arabians I will ACCEPT only NATURAL COLORS OCCURRING IN THE ARABIAN BREED! Any that display a color NOT SEEN in the Breed will be labeled a "partbred". If you have any questions concerning this, let me know and I will clarify it for you.
For those of you who would like to do a background, Desert Sands Stud is located in the heart of Oregon state, in 50 acres of the scrub desert. We have an outdoor natural desert-sand arena and an indoor arena (to protect against the weather). It is fall here in Oregon, so the terrain outside is in its fall stage. The surrounding countryside is an earthy brown with hints of dusky green from the sage. Snow flurries and frosty mornings and evenings are expected! Also, the show will be running through Halloween and Thanksgiving, so I have decided to break this show up into TWO PARTS.
Part One of the Show will run from October 1st to October 31st. THE THEME IS HALLOWEEN. Make your entries decorative! I don't require anything crazy, but I do want to see some sort of theme in the picture
Part Two of the Show will run from November 1st to November 30th. THE THEME IS THANKSGIVING.
THE SHOW WILL END ON DECEMBER 1ST WITH NO EXTENSIONS. I am giving you all TWO MONTHS to complete your entries.
The events above will run through both parts of the show. Each horse can participate in both parts of the show

Now for the Rules
ANY ARTISTIC MEDIUM IS ALLOWED
1) everyone is welcome !!
2) purebred Arabian and part bred Arabian horses allowed (including unnatural) NOTE: any horse that is labeled "purebred" but has an unnatural color not found in the Arabian breed will go under "partbred/unnatural"!! Example: palomino, buckskin, cremello, perlino, dun, roan, and paint/spotted patterns are NOT found in the purebred Arabian (for those of you who may be wondering, sabino and splash paint patterns are seen in purebred Arabians). JUDGING
Judging for Grand and Reserve Grand Champion will be done by my own person. All other placings will be RNG judged.
PRIZES
Unfortunately I cannot provide much in prizes. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP OR DONATE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!! (I would really appreciate it).
If your horse is AHA registered, you will gain show points to help your horse reach Finest.
What I CAN offer is this:
--> To the Grand Champion of EACH Class, I will personally draw a headshot of YOUR horse with a Grand Champion ribbon, and a Traditional Arabian headstall/halter and lead with a breast-collar with your horse's name/the name of your stable on it.
--> To first placings in EACH Class, I will award points (I am limited on the amount of points I have so it will not be much)
--> To ALL placings 1-5th place, I offer a FREE breeding to ANY of my horses (I can reserve breedings to my young stock). I have a stallion who has reached AHA's Finest, and he is available to outside mares, and all of my other stallions are active and gathering AHA points.
THAT'S IT! I look forward to seeing you at the show! If you have any prizes you would like to add, please let me know! Thank you!

Okay...Bragging Moment Here (So Sorry!)
Okay...first off I received the results for Masquerade's Kentucky Oaks, and I'm super pleased with her taking second. The constructive criticism for me was good (even though I take any kind of criticism horribly :( ) and I plan on using it to improve my art style in the future.
But that is not the reason for this journal. It concerns another horse. Well, two horses that is.
Day Oak Stud...the proud owner of their Kentucky Derby winner (what an accomplishment!). I am SO excited for Day Oak for their win, but this has a special place in my heart as well! Why?
Because their champ is the son of MY stallion, my baby boy that I bred YEARS ago
Contest???!!!! Cool Prize(s)! Extended!
THERE ARE ONLY TWO ENTRIES! So I am extending it a bit longer!
I've been thinking about this for a little while, and I decided to open this up to the public!
Life for me has gotten hectic and my desire to do art has waned a bit (as I've stated before). I have been wanting to give Abaddon's stud profile picture a do over, but I just don't have the will nor the energy to get it done.
So...I figured, why not open up a little contest and let someone draw or paint Abaddon's new profile picture! He is the face of Obsidian Farm and such a spectacular horse, and has proven himself to be the sire of champions (so far!)
Here is the Stallion:

Kentucky Oaks Update...Update!!
THEY ARE DONE. I am really proud of the Kentucky Oaks drawing. I worked HARD on it. I will upload it and the extra image soon. Just editing the pictures on my computer! :D
OH MY.
This is possibly the most ambitious project I have every done. Different angles, buildings, PEOPLE.
I am currently working like mad to get Mask's Kentucky Oaks entry finished before I start my SIX DAY LONG STREAK AT WORK. Which runs right through the deadline -_-
Uuuuuugh. I will HOPEFULLY have her last few images done by tomorrow and uploaded before the deadline. Be proud of me...I'm trying something new and so far its frustrating me LOL.
Be looking for new a
