Okay...first off I received the results for Masquerade's Kentucky Oaks, and I'm super pleased with her taking second. The constructive criticism for me was good (even though I take any kind of criticism horribly
) and I plan on using it to improve my art style in the future.
But that is not the reason for this journal. It concerns another horse. Well, two horses that is.
Day Oak Stud...the proud owner of their Kentucky Derby winner (what an accomplishment!). I am SO excited for Day Oak for their win, but this has a special place in my heart as well! Why?
Because their champ is the son of MY stallion, my baby boy that I bred YEARS ago from my favorite HARPG racehorse bloodline. Yes, now I am bragging a little. I want to exalt
Release the Panic, Day Oak Stud, and the impressive win they pulled off at the Derby (see the results
HERE ).
The reason why I am very happy is because (though the win is based off of the artist's style and their personal creativity)-Release the Panic is from Abaddon (my boy and this champ's sire), and Panic is from Abaddon's first crop of foals. I personally like to base stuff off of real life, even though HARPG has a fantasy element to it, and I was thinking about this earlier. In real life, a freshman Thoroughbred sire who SIRES a Kentucky Derby winner from his FIRST crop...now that is an AMAZING accomplishment. It means that the champion stallion has champion bloodlines that will carry through generation after generation.
I think ANYONE in HARPG who owns Thoroughbred stallions and breeds/sells their babies HOPES to see them taken by an active stable who shows them or races them. And I think anyone who has had their favorite stallion's babies go the major races and WIN would be as excited and happy as me. I
absolutely do not want to take the spotlight away from Day Oak Stud, but I had to express how happy I am to see that Panic won the Kentucky Derby. That means that my stallion, my favorite horse in my entire stable, is the sire of champions. That is a very precious thing to me. Why? Because when I first started HARPG YEARS ago, my desire was to take Abaddon to the top, just like his daddy before him and his granddad before him. I wanted Abaddon to be famous, but I didn't know how to get him there. And now, though he is retired, his legacy continues. The El Diablo champion legacy continues in Release the Panic.
Congrats Day Oak on your win and having such an impressive colt! Never in a million years did I imagine when I created him that he would go to the Derby and WIN!!!! I am so glad that you took him there,
Rex-n-Lux with your unique and impressive traditional style! Can't wait to see him in the Preakness!
PLEASE forgive me for bragging! I don't normally do this!!!
