The bright buckskin mare plodded slowly at Dara's side, her eyes flopping lazily. Standing by the face just before them stood Shadow, the Farm's electric black Teke stallion. The white faced stallion watched them approach with a kingly, haughty stare. Dara smiled up at him as she halted Angel at the gate and, upon opening it, sent the gentle mare through. The Shadow Lord turned around, his neck arched and ears pricked forward sharply, and both mare and stallion touched noses. His pink muzzle moved from her face to her shoulder and along her ribcage to her flank. Her skin shivered at the touch of his muzzle. She flicked her black tail in his face, making him jump. Dara stood and watched as the two horses sniffed one another and spoke in quiet whickers to each other. Then, Angel set off at a resolute walk, the blue-black stallion right behind her. Dara left the two horses on their own, making the long walk back to her house.
